Iowa County is located in east central Iowa. It is named for the Iowa River, which flows through it.
The seat is Marengo, while the largest city is Williamsburg. It borders Benton, Linn, Johnson, Washington, Keokuk, Poweshiek and Tama Counties.
Main highways through the county include I-80, US-6, US-151, IA-21, IA-149 and IA-220.
